Bemidji State University Offers New Certificate in Online Teaching
Bemidji State University is now offering its first for-credit certificate program online to help prepare educators for teaching in online and hybrid environments.
The nine-credit, four-course graduate Certificate in Online Teaching Program was developed in response to the increasing demand for online access to education and accompanying expectation that educators become skilled in designing and delivering online courses.
“Even great face-to-face teachers need certain skills set in moving into online and hybrid environments,” said Dr. Patricia L. Rogers, graduate coordinator and originator of the certificate program at BSU. “Providing teachers in P-12 and post-secondary institutions with additional and focused preparation in designing and managing online learning is critical.
“True online learning and teaching is far from simply putting a syllabus online and corresponding with students through email. Interactivity and how to engage learning is the key.”
The certificate in online teaching may be used as part of a cognate in a master of science or master of education degree program at Bemidji State University.
Those interested in registering for the program may do so through the website
