| Who is this program for? |
The program is designed for nontraditional students who have a minimum of 2 years experience as a program paraprofessional and who wish to obtain special education licensure at the graduate level. Candidates must have completed a bachelor’s degree. Students may maintain employment as a paraprofessional while pursuing licensure. |
| Program description | A test-out option is provided for an introductory course. Six field experience credits are granted for employment experience. Students apply for and are admitted to the graduate Learning Disabilities Certificate Program and earn the LD license after completing a 6-week summer student teaching and methods block (rather than a 16-week semester experience). |
| Degree granted | Graduate credits may be applied to a master’s degree. |
| Teaching licenses | K-12 Learning Disabilities; other special education licenses may be earned by taking an additional 9-12 credits. |
